Rep. Karfiah Runs Into Trouble With Bong Citizens

GBARNGA, Bong County-Opposition People’s Unification Party (PUP) Liberia Central Bong County Electoral District #5 Representative, Edward Karfiah has come under serious criticisms for referring to his fellow 2023 senatorial aspirants as “chicken, nincompoops and buffoons”.

The citizens believe that the early statement of classification coming from Hon. Karfiah has the inclinations to cause uproar among they politicians, their supporters and the ordinary people, a situation people of Bong must reject.

Serving as guest speaker at the 74th Commencement Convocation of the William V. S. Tubman Gray High School in Gbarnga, 11, November 2022, the PUP Representative and 2023 senatorial aspirant stated that Bong County cannot be given to chickens, nincompoops, buffoons, species according to him that doesn’t know their left from their right.

He said Bong County and its people deserve better representations at the honourable Liberian Senate comes 2023 in order to replace incumbent Senator, Henrique Flomo Tokpa.

“We can’t give our county to chickens, nincompoops, buffoons, and someone who doesn’t know their left from their right. We are not going to risk our beloved county to the hands of jokers,” the Bong County Rep. said.

Even though the Suakoko and Yelequalleh districts lawmaker did not call names, his statement has been condemned by Bongese in and out of the country.

Jonathan Kollie, age 63, a resident of the County said, ” Karfiah will have to apology to us the citizens. What’s wrong with him, is this who he is going to be calling us and his colleagues in this county, calling one another names, they are joking. Karfiah will need to have a rethink if he really wants to be our next senator”.

For Ma Gormah Sackie, she wants the lawmaker retract his “childish comments” and further cultivate the culture of maturity during and after the electoral process.

She maintained that for the county and country to remain peaceful during and after the election, politicians and their messages must be issue based.

Some political analysts have said that people of the county need not to blame the lawmaker for such a statement, because he’s undergoing serious political setbacks.

It’s reported that two of his best friends, Steve Kennedy and Alex Flomo has joined wings or has crossed over to the camp of aspirant Johnny Kpehe.

Rep. Karfiah who has been at the House of Representatives since 2012, representing the people of district #5 has vowed not to seek re-election in his District, but rather want a transition to the House of Senate.

Notable names that has been surfacing for the past few months that are working to unseat incumbent Senator, Henrique F. Topka include businessman, Johnny Kpehe, former President of the Federation of Liberian Youth (FLY), Mohammed A. Nasser, former Minister of Agriculture, Dr. Mogana Flomo, Dr. Rennie B. Jackson, former Bong County Superintendent, Rep. Edward Karfiah, among others.
