Grand Gedeh County Representative, Zoe Emmanuel  Pennue, Sr. has raised a red flag over the continuous pronouncements made by Senator Prince Y. Johnson over the killing of his uncle, former Liberian President Samuel Kanyon Doe.

Rep. Pennue at a press conference held at his Capitol Building office in Monrovia on Tuesday said: “let my colleague Senator Prince Johnson stop boasting about kill Samuel K. Doe.”

He called on President George Manneh Weah and other international partners to advise the Nimba county senator whom he said is in the constant habit of provoking the people of that county.

Sen. Johnson and others have been named in the TRC report of 2010 as being those bearing the greatest responsibilities for the 14 years of carnage in Liberia that led to the killing of some 250,000 people.

From time to time, especially during electoral seasons, former Gen. Johnson uses his image standing on one of the abandoned war-time amour vehicle to symbolize how he stood in defense of the lives of his kinsmen during the war years.

Now, Senator Johnson has reacted to President Weah’s recent move to write Lawmakers about the setting up of a war and economic crimes Court in the country, urging his Namba kinsmen to avoid being part of those calling for the establishment of the court.

Speaking on the local community radio in Nimba a few days ago, he justified his role in the armed conflict and the assassination of the former Liberian leader, because he claimed that Doe and his forces committed atrocities in Nimba County and against people from that area who he had to defend. https://newspublictrust.com/sen-pyj-uses-nimba-people-as-shield-from-war-crimes-court/

According to the Grand Gedeh County lawmaker, everyone regrets the sad days of the Liberian civil unrest which too away lives of some 250,000 and millions of property damaged.

He said that it pains him when everytime he hears the Nimba senator bragging each time he (Sen.PYJ) meets citizens of Nimba County.

The Grand Gedeh lawmaker went on to say that since the years of civil unrest, many years have passed and by just speaking about how one Liberian killed his or her fellow Liberian is like removing the scars from the long time wounds.

According to him, the killed Liberian President is his direct relative and as such repeatedly hearing from the senator makes him to reflect on his days as a kid when his uncle was killed in cold blood.

The lawmaker indicated that for the past years, citizens of those two counties have been co-existing and have intermarried over the period of time.

He indicated that if the Liberian senator wants re-election, he should look for other means but not to include the people of Nimba and Grand Gedeh.

“The senator wants to cause problem for the two counties and this needs to stop because our children are going to school” the Grand Gedeh lawmaker intoned.

Additionally he said,”we the people of Grand Gedeh regret the civil wall. It was a civil conflict people are still regretting this situation and we want to say sorry for all that happened”.

Commenting on the issue of the recent request at the legislature for the establishment of War and Economic Crimes Court he said that he has signed the resolution seeking said establishment.

Grand Gedeh and Nimba are the two counties which citizens saw many deaths during the course of the Liberian civil war ended in 2013.

The legislature now has the full responsibility to either agree or not for the establishment of such court in Liberia for victims of the over 14 years of civil unrest in to finally get justice.

Both the House of Representatives and the Liberian Senate have individuals who participated in the years of the unrest and the million dollar question is if they are going to allow themselves face justice before such court.
