(Last Updated On: )

In commemoration of the birth anniversary of District #4 Representative, Rustonlyn Suacoco Dennis Citizens of Montserrado County over the weekend converged at different points to give their district a facelift.

Citizens from Zuba Town, Sour Clinic, Du-port Road and parts adjacent early Saturday morning left their various homes to gather at their points of work where they cleaned the drainages, cut grass, and swept street corners.

With the increased number of citizens in the streets, there were concerns that some of them had poured in only to work for money that was promised them by the youthful lawmaker.

But speaking to reporters, an eminent citizen of District #4, Washington Stewart said “we are here today because the love we have for our lawmaker, we were not promised any money by anyone.”

Mr. Stewart headed the group in Du-port Road indicated that out of their own volition they as citizens of the district decided to join the clearing up campaign to as a means of identifying with their lawmaker and as well giving their district a facelift.

Mr. Stewart said that they divided the district into three zones.

Mr. Stewart indicated that they expected 150 citizens to form part of the cleaning campaign but was quick to say that the number increased from the expected 150 to 450 who according to him came willingly.

He recounted the supports that have been given to them by their lawmaker adding that “this woman is our lawmaker and we the people of this district really love”.

Also speaking, Eddie F. Nimely head of the Center for promotion democracy and development (CPDD) and who moved in the Du-port road community in 1985 said that clearing it is about time that all hands get on the disk and ensure that their environment gets the necessary hygienic condition.

“When your community dirty, unclean, you are inviting sicknesses like malaria, and other sicknesses caused by mosquito and rats at the final analysis, you will start to blame everything on the devil” Mr. Nimely added.

According to him, he has lived in the district for many years and giving back to this community does not mean anything for him.

Other youths who spoke with this paper indicated that they have only gone to show their love for their district and for their lawmaker whom they said is ably representing them at the Liberian Legislature. Report by Mark N. Mengonfia
