The Coalition for Democratic Change has strongly condemned the recent attack at the home of former Chief Justice, Gloria Musu Scott resulting into the death of her nice and injury of another in Brewereville.

CDC National Chairman, Mulbah Morlu, said it is unfortunate that some politicians and adversaries of the government are using the tragic events to score political points.

Addressing a press conference in Congo Town, Chairman Morlu called on the Ministry of Justice and the Liberia National Police to join forces and deploy their best resources to speedily, fairly and adequately conduct an investigation in this incident.

The CDC National Chairman expressed condolence to the bereaved family on behalf of the party and cautioned members of the party and the Liberian public to respect the family by not using the tragic incident as political game.

“While the investigation is going,” he went on,” we want to appeal to all Liberians especially citizens in the opposition, to desist from making false claims that this unfortunate act was the result of the government failure to provide security protection for the former Chief and a witch-hunt adversaries.”

According to him, President George Weah will never engage in political witch-hunt, he does not have any political prisoner and expressed the need to wait for the outcome of the investigation.

“In the wake of these tragic events,” Morlu explained, “there are some unscrupulous individuals in foreign countries who are making baseless unsubstantiated claimed about Liberia and senior officials of government.”

“We believe that sole intent of these outrageous comments is to create chaos, spread falsehood, and ferment instability especially towards the 2023preseidential and legislative elections in Liberia.”

Morlu called on these foreign governments   where these accusations are being formatted especially in those countries, which have contributed hugely to the political, democratic and infrastructural and economic development to be aware of the potential danger these unfounded claims can impact the country’s stability.

He described President Weah as an epitome of peace and reconciliation who, in his entire life, has busy himself with putting smiles on the faces of his people, while espousing the rights of everyone to freely express themselves and associate.

“To circumvent these hallmark attributes of the regime, which has kept Liberia on a steady course democratically disingenuous, selfish and unpatriotic.”

“We are concerned about recent comments by former TRC Chairman, Jerome Verdier, linking top several officials of government to the murder at Counselor Scott’s residence.”

Appearing on a local talk show, Counselor Verdeier linked the Secretary General of the Coalition for Democratic Change, Jefferson Koijee, to having connection to the gruesome killing of the daughter of the former Chief Justice Gloria Musu Scott.

Counselor Verdier also lined Colonel Patrick Sudue. Inspector general of the Liberia national Police; Jefferson Koijee, Mayor of Monrovia City Corporation; Samora Wollokollie, Deputy Finance Minister; and many other the death of Matthew Innis, the Deputy Director of Micro Finance at the Central Bank of Liberia.

Morlu described the allegations as a wicked political ploy crafted to weaken the Weah-led government and put the masses against key actors within the system.

Hence, the CDC National Chairman called on the LNP and Justice Ministry to request the United States government to investigate Counselor Verdier and turn him over to the Liberian government for interrogation regarding his insightful comments.
