KAKATA, Liberia- A two-day tournament under supervision of a group style, “Critical Thinker of Kakata, Margibi County” are stagin, a peace and reconciliation tournament in honor of Margibi County Senator James Emmanuel Nuquay .
The tournament will be played on a knockout basis in both kickball and football category.
Speaking to this Reporter, the group’s Chairperson, Sekou Toure said after several consultation with its member the group resolved to do so for Senator James Emmanuel Nuquay because of his pivotal role played in the county for a long period of time. Since his election, the Legislative Caucus of Margibi County has been working together cordially for the growth and development for the betterment of the the County, Mr. Toure said.
The tournament officially kicked off on Saturday, June 2022, with a parade from the principal street of Kakata to the opened-air Nancy B.Doe Sports Stadium in Kakata where there will be games in both kickball and football.
Teams participating in the football version include Mobil Construction FC,Tupee All Star, Classic FM and Margibi United FC while in the kickball version the top four teams of the Liberia Kickball Federation-Margibi County SubAssociation which include defending Champions Destiny Girls Kickball club, AYOUNDA Kickball Club, QUINCY Sisters Kickball Club and Angels Net Foundation Kickball Club.
In the day’s opening fixture of the kickball category,y in game one LKF-Margibi County SubAssociation league leader, AYOUNDA Kickball Club battled Angels Net Foundation at 11:00AM while in game two defending champions Destiny Girls Kickball Club muscles Quincy kickball club at 12:00PM.
In the football category in game one, Margibi United FC knock horns with Tupee All Star at 2:00PM while in the day final showpiece Mobil FC wrestles with Classic FM. (Full results in our later report)
The tournament is the first of its kind to be held since the election of Hon.James Emmanuel Nuquay 2020 as Senator of Margibi County.
Each of the participating teams is expected to receive a set of jersey to partake in such tournament.
The grand final of the tournament is scheduled for a later date to be announced within a week at the open-air Nancy B. Doe Sports Stadium in Kakata .
The amount of LD 45,000.00 /USD 300.00 will be distributed among the winners along with the runner-up in both the kickball and football categories.
