SPORTS: Businessman Barcolleh Kollie Bags Another Award For Supporting Sports

A prominent businessman in Margibi County Barcolleh Kollie has received another award in recognition of his numerous contributions to sports and humanity in Margibi County.

CEO Kollie was on Saturday, 4 March 2023 certificated as the Best Sports Supporter of the year by the Sports Writers Association of Liberia- Margibi County Chapter after an intensive one-day sports workshop for over 20 sports journalists in Kakata, the capital city of Margibi County.

According to the two coordinators of the Sports Writers Association Of Margibi County Chapter Williams Decent-Toe and Jerome C.Willie of the Lower and Upper end said such recognition was based on Kollie’s numerous contributions to sports in Margibi, especially during the nation’s most talked-about festival the National County Sports Meet.

During the just-ended National County Sports Meet CEO Kollie donated 10 bags of 25kg, 50 sacs of mineral water, and two footballs and presented the amount of LD $ 5,000.00 to the Margibi Sports Association (MSA) before and during the National County Sports Meet.

In addition, CEO Kollie was also one of the contributors to the first and most prestigious Margibi County Inter-District League where he gives over LD$10,000.00 to the organizer as his initial contribution.

Kollie’s gestures to the Margibi Margibi Sports Association (MSA) during the just-ended National County Sports Meet were commendable as his gesture was the first of its kind from a business person in Margibi County.

At the same time, Kolubah Zayay president of the Sports Writers Association of Liberia (SWAL) who presented the certificate thanked CEO Kollie for his support of Sports in Margibi County.

He challenged him to not only make contributions during political festivals or political tournaments but rather see his business as a friend to the sporting environment.

Zayay called on CEO Kollie to also use his business as a way of branding sporting institutions to attract more investors.

In response, CEO Kollie lauded the Sports Writers Association Of Liberia-Margibi County Chapter for such recognition and promised to support the leadership of the Sports Writers Association Of Liberia- Margibi County Chapter and at large.

“To admit, I did not see such coming but however it has encouraged me more to invest in Sports because it unites us all,” said CEO Kollie.

Barcolleh Kollie is a renowned businessman in Margibi County where he serves as CEO of the MJK Building Materials Store in Kakata.

CEO Kollie has over 20 years of experience in a business and he owns businesses in Margibi and Bong Counties.

He graduated from the University of Liberia with a degree in Electrical Engineering.

In another development, several individuals along with institutions was awarded certificate also for the year.

Among them include EC Tony Deinuka of the Liberia Football Association (LFA) and CEO of Orange National League-2nd Division Club Tony FC as Sports Personality.

Others include; Marbue Richard as Sports Developer and Dr. Henry Marcus Speare as Sports Promoter.

Institutions include; Agape High School Most Successful and Ayounda Kickball Club Most Successful.

Agape High School won the last edition of the Upper Margibi ISSA League football Championship and later represented Margibi County in the National Regional Playoff of the ISSA League Competition.

While Ayounda KC won the Championship of the League-Two National Championship And Promotional Playoff held I Kakata, Margibi County, becoming the first Kickball Club outside to gain promotion to the top-tier league of the LKF-SEGAL League.
