SPORTS: Midfielder Prince Kantan Wins 4th Division Players’ Player Of The Year

KAKATA, Liberia- The Upper Community League Club, SLY FC squad has crowned Prince Kantan as the Players’ Player of the year for 2021-2022, following a splendid performance by the young midfielder Kantan due to his consistency.

The 20-year-old midfielder was voted by his team, including fans and supporters during the climax of the season, when the award was presented to him. It was during the club awards program on last Sunday, June 5, 2022 at the open-air Nancy B. Doe Sports Stadium in Kakata.

He won the award for the first time in the club’s history, ahead of his teammates Emmanuel Sammie and Abraham Kail.

Kantan’s sensational form in midfield earns him such award as he played all the games for his club in the just-ended 2021-2022 League season of the Upper Committee Community League of the LFA–Margibi County SubAssociation Community League.

The SLY Kantan failed to score a single goal for the club but created several chances and over all give over six assits for his club in the competition.

Kantan will always be remembered in the the club history of the 2021-2022 league season for missing the club’s first penalty in the league against One Goal Football Academy II in which his team settled to a 1-out draw at the opened-air Nancy B.Doe Sports Stadium in Kakata.

As one of the most experience player for the club Kantan played all eleven (11) matches for club and also was part, starting XI of all eleven (11). Games.

Kantan only caution came was a yellow card shown during a match involving SLY FC versus Margibi United FC at the opened-air Nancy B.Doe Sports Stadium in Kakata.

The young creative midfielder Kantan joined SLY FC from FC Quincy of the top-tier league of Margibi County in 2019 where he has spent/spend two seasons with SLY FC.

His first season with SLY FC the club finish the season 4th place during the 2020-2021 league while his second season with the club of the 2021-2022 league season the club finished 8th place in the second season of the club participation.

Kantan becomes the club second player to win such a prestigious award with Jericho Wayhea being the first player to receive such accolade since the establishment of the club.

The Players’ Player award is viewed as a significant mark of respect from your teammate and Kantan should be proud of his effort through 2021-2022.

SLY FC was founded in 2020 in Kakata, Margibi County, where the club has carry on several initiatives apart from football which include charity with academic activities in collaboration with a non-profit organization, Vas Connection based in Kakata, Margibi County.

Other winners include Emmanuel Sammie clinching the “CEO/ Presendiatial Award”, George Kollie” Goal Of The Season” , Emmanuel Sirleaf ” Fan Player Of The Year ” with Amos Kail winning the ” Fan Of The Season “.

The occasion was grace by several stakeholders or club president which include Emmanuel Elliot of Champions Prosper FC, Amadu Bility KA-City,Jarophic Guwor Margibi United FC along with Benedict Chie Chief Scribe Upper End  of the LFA-Margibi County SubAssociation, Stephen Kafi Liberia FIFA Trained referees instructor, among others.

Giving an overview of the club statistics Augutsine Sackie secretary General said the club scores 11 goals, conceded 11, seven yellow cards with no red card.

About the Players’ Player Of The Yea

Prince Kantan, alais ” Isco” is a creative midfielder and at age (20) he earns a diploma from the Booker Washington Institute- PSPP, Kakata, Margibi County and he is studying Electrical in 2018-2019.

At BWI-PSPP he clinched trophies in the Departmental League from 2017-2019.

Kantan currently is a student at the University of Liberia (UL) where he is reading Public Administration and Economics.
