Careysburg club Shaita FC’s player, Ousman Kamara has broken the deadlock in the ongoing Margibi 2023 Inter-District League competition by becoming the first player to get on the score sheet with a hat-trick, since the start of the competition.
Kamara’s hat trick in the second half gave District #2 a 3-1 win over District #4 in the football category of the competition on Friday, 29 September at the opened-air Nancy B. Doe Sports Stadium in Kakata day three of the tournament.
The Orange National League 2nd Division club Shaita FC player, Kamara got on the score sheet in the 69th minute of the match to give his side a 1-0 lead over District #4 after a scoreless first half.
With much opportunity wasted from District 4 in the first half and the early minutes of the second half Wurie Barry give an assist to Ousman Kamara to register a brace in the 73rd minute of the match to increase the score to 2-0 in favor of the home team, District 2.
And with 27 minutes left in the match, the home side through its midfield dominated the game, thus giving them all three points, thanks to Ousma Kamara’s hat trick.
Hamilton Kerkulah got the lone goal for District #4 from the penalty spot in the 84th minute of the match.
District 2 now has under their three points, becoming the first District to get a win in the football category since the start of the competition, with Kamara becoming the first hat trick scorer.
Friday’s fixture marks the first for District #2, with District #4 coming second in both kickball and football categories.
District 4 suffered a 3-0 defeat to District #3 in Kickball, while settling to a goalless draw in the football category on Friday, 22 September at the open-air Nancy B. Doe Sports Stadium in Kakata. It was on the opening date of this year’s edition of the Margibi 2023 Inter District League.
As it stands, the boys of District 4 hope of been in such competition depends on the results from District 3 and District 4, while in the kickball category the girls of District 4 need a compulsory win with more home runs if they must advance to the next round of the competition.
District 2 and District 3 battle on 6 October at the same venue of the competition to end the final group stage of Group.
A draw for District 3 in both categories on 6 October means that they will advance to the next round of the competition.
In other results, on match day one Friday, 22 September at the venue mentioned above of the competition, District 3 defeated District 4 (3-0) in kickball while in football both teams played to a goalless 90th minutes.
On Sunday, 24 September District 5 suffers a defeat to District 6 as District 6 won (5-1) over District 5, while in football District 5 and District 6 played to a scoreless full-time.
The tournament continues on Sunday, 1 October at the venue of such competition.
In Sunday’s fixture District 6 and District 1 play in both kickball and football.
A win for District 6 in the kickball category on Sunday means that District 6 advances to the next round of the competition as they will become the first District to do so in the kickball category while on the other hand tomorrow’s fixture marks the first for District 1 in both categories.
This year’s edition marks the third of such second most prestigious competition in Margibi County.
The sporting arm of Margibi County the Margibi Sports Association (MSA) is the supervisor for such competition.
This year’s edition comprises the five Electorial Districts of Margibi County with an additional District styled (District 6, alias “Kakata District”.
“Sustaining The Peace Through A Peaceful Elections And Say No To Elections Violence” is the theme for this year’s edition of the Inter-District League, which features basketball, kickball and football disciplines.
The girls of Rep. Tibelrosa S Tarponweh Sr. of District 1 is the defending champions in the kickball category while the girls of Rep. Ellen Attoh-Wreh of District 3 is the defending champions in the football category.
Since it been reintroduced in Margibi County District 3 has recorded the championship two times in the football category while District 4 and District 1 carry the championship once.
