GRAND KRU, Liberia- Ahead of the re-opening of schools for the 2022/2023 academic year across the country, Karkpo General Town Chief in Dorboh Statutory District is concerned about the urgent need to renovate the public school in this southeastern region.

According to general town chief John Nyakan, the Karkpo public school was built by community dwellers, but the school has not been renovated by national government and the Ministry of education for decades now.

The Karkpo public school caters for hundreds of students in the area and surrounding towns, thus helping children of school age to access education.

General town chief Nyakan is calling on the Grand Kru Legislative Caucus and humanitarians through the county education authorities to see the need to not only renovate this school but to also provide for students to sit on.

A tour of schools in this part of Liberia by this Reporter over the weekend established that what is obtaining at the Karkpo public schools similarly playing out across hard to reach communities of Grand Kru County, something that is having dire consequences for the next generation.
