The Civil Service Agency (CSA) has requested the Monrovia City Corporation (MCC) to immediately relieve nine employees who have dangerously engaged in social media campaigns against public officials, particularly targeting the president of Liberia.

Speaking at the MICAT press briefing in Monrovia on Tuesday, CSA Director General, Josiah F. Joekai, Jr., said, “These actions have caused serious harm to the reputation of the Monrovia city corporation. The negative portrayal of government officials by these unscrupulous employees has far-raging effects on the individuals concerned, meaning the public officials and the government as a whole.”

He noted that such unacceptable and sustained behavior on social media is incompatible with their status as employees of the MCC.

He further stated that, the MCC must consider terminating their services and promptly notify the CSA of the action.

The CSA boss recommends that the MCC, in adherence to the applicable laws, terminate the employment of employees with the record of constant and deliberate job abandonment for more than fifteen days in one or more months.

This recommendation, he said, applies to employees who have been absent from work for a number of times without management acknowledgement, approval for prolonged absenteeism, or proper documentation of attendance, he added.

Meanwhile, CSA boss, Josiah F. Joekai, Jr. has acknowledged Mayor John Charuk Siafa’s contribution to the successful implementation of the ARREST AGENDA and promised to continue to work with MCC in strengthening their human resource management system as other entities.
