US$197K Health Center Surgery Theater Dedicated In Bong Co., Liberia

GBARNGA, Liberia- The people of a remote district in the central Bong County now have a newly constructed health facility.

The Liberia gvernment through the Ministry of Health  have dedicated the  Belefanai health center surgery theater worth little over one hundred ninety-seven thousand United States Dollars in Zota district in the central Bong County.

Speaking at program making the opening ceremony of the Belefanai health center theater on Tuesday, December 29, 2020 in Belefanai town, Liberia’s Health Minister, Dr. Wilhelmina Jallah described the facility as a big boost for the health sector in the County.

Minister Jallah named the facility as the Belefanai Comperhensive Health Center from being called the Belefanai Health Center in the County.

Said Min. Jallah: “Today to have such a center in this District where many people can come from various towns and villages and be able to have access to emergency surgery is important for the Ministry of Health and our people.

“As a government, we are doing all we can to make the health sector of our country better, but we needs the support of all of you,” the Liberian Health Minister said.

According to Dr. Jallah,  the Belefanai comperhensive health health center is now compared to other major health facility like the JFK hospital, the Phebe referral hospital among others and will be able to do work that other health facility across the Country can do, further described it as a good day for the people of Bong County particularly the people of Zota District.

The  one hundred and ninety- seven thousand United States Dollars ($197, 000 USD) health facility project include, a Theater or operation room, Maternal Waiting Home and fencing of the entire Belefanai health center otherwise known ad the Belefanai comprehensive health center.

She further said that with the Material Waiting Home and the Theater at the Belefanai Comprehensive Health Center it will help in minimizing maternal death in the District and the County at large.

Speaking earlier, Bong County Health Officer, Dr. Jonathan Flomo assured the Minister of Health that they are going to take good care of the facility in the County.

The Bong County Health Officer revealed that a team of medical surgeons have already been set to take care or charge of theater in Belefanai.

Marking remark were the Representative of Zota and Panta districts, Robert Flomo Womba. Representative Womba lauded the Ministry of Health for the construction of these projects.

The Bong County District#4 Lawmaker vowed to work with his colleagues in making showing that the facility is properly maintained in the County in turn of budgetary allotment.

He then encouraged his citizens to take ownership of the facility in the District and the County at large.

Meanwhile, Bong County Development Superintendent, Anthony Boakai Sheriff described the dedication of the  health facility as a new day for the healthcare delivery system of the County.

Mr. Sheriff on be half of Superintendent Esther Y. Walker and the people of Bong County lauded President George M. Weah for the improvement in the county health sector.

At the same time, the Bong County official coutioned citizens of the District to take care of the facility by helping to clean around it.

The Belefanai Comperhensive Health Center dedication was attended by  FARA Manager, Mrs. Louise T. Mapleh, local leaders and cross section of citizens from the District including Bong County Health Team Administrator, Jonah N. Tokpah.
