VP Taylor Calls For Holistic Approach In Fight Against COVID-19

GBARNGA, Liberia- Vice President Jewel Howard Taylor has stressed the need for a holistic approach in the fight against the Coronavirus in Liberia that has so far claimed the lives of twenty people.

Mrs. Taylor called on citizens and residents of the central Bong County to take seriously the coronavirus pandemic outbreak, observing all health protocols, aimed at reducing the further spread of the virus in the Country.

The Liberian VP said the need for Liberians, especially Bongese to continue observing all health protocols, including regular hand washing, social distancing and avoiding crowded places is one ways in combating Covid-19 in Liberia.

Speaking in a joint interview via phone on Community radio stations in the city of Gbarnga recently, the former Bong County native want the active involvement of every sons and daughters both in the country and abroad in the fight against COVID-19, which continues to kill and create hardships for people globally.

Vice President Taylor believes that when citizens of the county come together with one mind and goal especially in creating awareness of COVID-19 would stop the virus from entering the county.

Since the emergence of the COVID-19 pandemic in Liberia, the President has been on the frontline creating awareness among Liberians, emphasizing the need to observe the health protocols including hands washing with soap and clean water and social distancing.

Her awareness campaign has been visible on various billboards across the country and other social media platforms.

The Liberia’s Vice President further narrated that since the outbreak of Covid-19 in the Country, her office has made several donations of assorted food items including rice to disadvantaged Liberians as well as the provision of buckets to encourage the washing of hands which is essential in combating the human killer disease.

She said that her donations affected several leaning institutions, churches, Mosque, and several other communities across the Country.

“We have been able to distribute some bags of rice, mini-hand washing buckets with faucets, hand sanitizers produced by the School of Pharmacy at the UL and Clorox among others to our people,” VP Taylor said.

According to the Liberia’s Vice President, the 14th Military Hospital in Margibi County recently benefitted from her donations a 15 Medical Oxygen Tanks aimed at strengthening the Hospital’s capacity to cater to patients infected by the pandemic.

Mrs. Taylor maintained that the fight against the Coronavirus pandemic in the Country is everybody’s business. “I am therefore urging all Bongese under the sound of my voice wherever you are to take seriously the frequent hands washing, social distancing amongst other as we continue to fight this humanitarian crisis in our country.”

At the same time, VP Taylor has announced to the public the media institutions are to shortly benefit from some assistance from her office.

Her passion is to see struggling Journalists reporting from different communities in the county, the Liberian Vice President told Reporters.
