The disputed political leader of the opposition Liberty Party (LP), Senator Nyonblee Karnga-Lawrence has strongly warned the leader of another opposition party, ANC Alexander Cummings to stop infusing conflict into the LP through the embattled Chairman Musa Hassan Bility.

But LP’s Secretary General, Martin Kollah says Senator Lawrence remains suspended from the party.

Addressing a news conference Sunday in Monrovia over the weekend, Senator Lawrence stressed that she has been reliably informed of a planned program by the ANC and Mr. Bility to recommit the Liberty Party to a political collaboration under the banner of “The Collaborating Political Parties,” terming the plan as regrettable.

Senator Lawrence also informed Liberians home and abroad that in the midst of these continuous confusion in the party, she has the authority under a confusion or conflict clause in the LP’s constitution to direct the party.

The Grand Bassa County Senator further requests members of the public to note that the title and the authority of the political leader of the Liberty Party is not in question and is still vested in her.

She quoted the conflict clause in the party’s constitution as saying, “The Standard Bearer/Political Leader, in consultation and collaboration with the NEC, shall formulate policy and procedures to implement the decisions of the National Convention.

Senator Lawrence intimated that the alleged action Mr. Cummings and his ANC, along with previous proven acts of fueling conflict in the Liberty Party, does not speak well of a group of people wanting to provide leadership for a country already crying aloud for reconciliation.

She also called on the public not to lend any credence to the planned illegal collaboration.

At the same time, the Liberty Party political leader has formed a committee that will take charge of all collaboration engagements ahead of the 2023 presidential and legislative elections.

She named former Deputy Speaker and Executive Committee Member of the Liberty Party Hans Barcheu as head and Co-chair by Montserrado County Senator Abraham Darius Dillon, Vice Chair for Political Affairs.

Meanwhile, the Secretary General of the Liberty Party, Martin Kollah has maintained that Senator Nyonblee Karnga-Lawrence remains suspended from the party and she is not recognized as the political leader of the institution.

Mr. Kollah also emphasized that Senator Lawrence has no authority under the LP’s constitution to commit the Liberty Party to any collaboration, stressing that she needs to rethink when making any public statement regarding the party.
