A woman believed to be in her early 30s, Decontee Bowen has given birth to two sets of twin (4), 3 girls and a boy in Liberia’s southeastern city of Zwedru, Grand Gedeh County, nearly 459 kilometers from Monrovia.

Unfortunately, one of the infants had a neonatal death.

But the new mother of three is asking for urgent humanitarian assistance from well-meaning Liberians both at home and abroad, in order to cater for her kids, in the wake of ongoing Coronavirus pandemic. Prior to her recent delivery of the three children, Decontee already had three children—a boy and two girls—which now brings to six the number of mouths she has to feed.

Miss Bowen is a resident of Quarter, a Community in Zwedru, the provincial Capital of Grand Gedeh County.

Medical report says the young mother successfully gave birth on Sunday May 3, 2020 with the first set of twin at home and later at the Martha Tubman Memorial referral Hospital in Zwedru.

The quadraplet mother who was in good health and stable condition told Smile F Reporter Kai Gee, that this was a strange experience for her.

She explained that one of the babies, a girl died after birth, describing it as very hurtful and disappointing.

The 30-year-old woman spoke of the huge responsibility that now rests on her head in catering for the three babies at the same time, prompting her to call on good will citizens and philanthropists for financial and food support.

“It was my wish to have all my children after the kind of pain I experienced,” she explained to Journalists.

When asked about her husband or the children’s father, Decontee said she and her partner are not legally married.

She said her boyfriend, Joe Karpeh has since been visiting the hospital after she give birth.

What is very sad in her is that the three new born children neither have a grandmother nor grandfather, both of her parent are dead.

Decontee disclosed that the issues of support and feeding of the children  have always been an uphill task for her and her family.

The young mother of six is therefore calling on every well-meaning citizen, County administration, Central government and humanitarian organizations to come to her aid and provide assistance for them, amidst considering the difficulty they are going through.

The Nursing Director at the Martha Tubman Hospital, Thomas Q. Neewray told a team of Journalists that the hospital is in solidarity with her. He said the hospital has provided an initial contribution of over five thousand Liberian dollars, four packs of baby kids, as well as one 25Kg bag of rice to assist the young suckling mother.

Mr. Neewray maintained that the conditions of the three kids are stable and are relying on their mother’s breast.

Meanwhile, the three infants and their mother are said to be healthy and in good condition at the Martha Tubman Hospital in Zwedru city.
