Woman, age 32 shot dead by husband in a small Liberian town

Grand Bassa County –A 32-year-old woman has reportedly been shot dead by her husband, who is on the run in Liberia’s Grand Bassa County, some 80 miles from the capital, Monrovia.

Police in the area are said to be in hot pursuit of the husband identified as Janjay Doegar, age 40.

The victim identified as Youconjay Doegar was allegedly killed by Doegar at about 6am local time last Thursday in Doewein, District Number One.

The couple were said to have lived together for a year before the tragedy occurred.

According to Christmas Kennedy of the local community Radio Diahnblae based in the town, Doegar is said to have shot the woman from the back with a single barrel gun while she was using the bathroom.

Unlike other arms, single barrel guns are the only small arms legally permitted to be used by private individuals for hunting purpose, but it must be licensed.

It’s not known whether the one used to take away the life of Youconjay was registered with government authority.

This reporter on the scene of the incident told Magic FM in Buchanan that the sister of the deceased informed him that she and her husband had “misunderstanding” few days ago. But the cause of the confusion was not disclosed to him.

The Radio Diahnblae reporter said that before her death, her husband had earlier threatened to kill her on several occasions whenever they had a feud.

He said based on the most recent confusion, the late Youconjay left her residence and went to her sister’s house where she was allegedly murdered.
