Woman Sent To Court For Allegedly Burning Step Daughter’s Private Part & Hands

Police in Sinoe County have arrested, investigated, charged and sent to court a 40-year-old woman for allegedly burning her six-year-old step daughter’s private part, as domestic violence is on the rise in Liberia.

The woman identified as Hellena Pojah, also allegedly burnt the child’s hands and back.

The incident occurred in Butaw, Sinoe County recently.

During police Investigation, defendant Pojah told investigators that her six-year-old step daughter refuses to clean herself, whenever she uses the toilet.

The child’s latest behavior prompted Madam Pojah to severely flog the six-year-old child, and later melting a plastic bag and splashing it on her private part, hands and back, thereby causing serious bodily injuries.

Defendant Pojah has meanwhile, been charged with Aggravated Assault, in line with Chapter 14.20 of Liberia’s criminal law.

Aggravated Assault is a second degree felony which is punishable under law.

Meanwhile, defendant has sent to court awaiting court trail.
