Liberian Delegation In Ivory Coast, After Liberians Involvement In Armed Attack

Following an attack on an  Ivorian military  base in which three armed men were killed and one captured,  the Liberian government assured the Ivorian authority that an inch of Liberian territory will not be used as a spring board for attack in that  neighboring country.

Men carrying Liberian passport were said to have carried out the attack last month.

On April 21st, 2021, the Ivorian army said it killed three armed men and captured another during pre-dawn attack on the N’dotre base, and a Liberian passport and a driver’s license were found on two of the dead assailants.

Speaking to the press shortly after holding discussion with Ivorian Defense Minister in Abidjan, Liberian Foreign Minister, Dee Maxwell Kemayah, disclosed that President George Weah has been in conversation with his Ivorian counterpart, President Alasan Quattara, who assured him that Liberia cherish the bilateral relations subsisting the two countries.

He cautioned Liberians residing in the Ivory Coast to remain law abiding and they are free to go about their normal businesses with fear of harassment.

According to him, he held discussions with President Alasan Quattara, the Ivorian Interior, the Foreign , and Defense Ministers during which he assured them of the Liberian President sincerity in the maintenance of peace in the Mano River basin

He thanked the Ivorian government for the warm reception accorded him and the delegation during the meetings with several officials in Abidjan.

For his part, the Ivorian Defense Minister, Tiene Quattara, who spoke through an interpreter , assured the Liberian government that the  Ivorian army will not chase any Liberian within his country and across the border.

Minister Quattara used the occasion to encouraged Liberians residing in the Ivory Coast to go about their normal businesses  , free to move and live in that country without fear.

During the visit, the Liberian delegation held meeting with President Alasan Quattara , the ministers of Interior , Defense  and the Foreign Affairs  .

The Liberian delegation include Justice Minister Musa Dean, Defense Minister . Daniel Ziakahn, National Security Advisor, Jefferson Karmoh, Assistant Foreign Minister  Sylvester Pewee, among others.
