One hundred high school students in Paynesville are expected to benefit from a one-month Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) Robotic Education Program, powered by the Nyonblee Cares Foundation in partnership with the Paynesville City Corporation.

The initiative is designed to introduce students to the fundamentals of robotic manipulation and coding during their vacation, equipping them with practical 21st-century skills.

A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed on Wednesday, June 25, detailing the roles of both partners. The Paynesville City Corporation will provide the training venue, recruit participants through an online portal hosted on the official Facebook pages of both institutions, and lead the

drive to mobilize community and corporate support.

For its part, the Nyonblee Cares Foundation will supply technical content, engage trained facilitators, and contribute to fundraising efforts.

Paynesville City Mayor Robert Bestman praised the partnership, calling it a timely investment in youth development. “This program is not only relevant to Paynesville but essential for Liberia’s future. It’s an opportunity for our young people to explore technology and innovation,” he said.

Foundation Director George Stewart noted that the trainers for the program are four young Liberians who received advanced robotics education in the United States and Ghana. “These young men were among the first beneficiaries of our STEM initiative in Buchanan. Today, they return to pass on their knowledge to fellow Liberians,” Stewart explained.

Since 2018, the Nyonblee Cares Foundation has championed youth empowerment through education, especially for out-of-school children via its Speed School program. It also pioneered STEM learning in Buchanan, Grand Bassa County, laying the foundation for this new robotics initiative in Paynesville.

The training kicks off this July and marks a significant step in expanding access to technology education for Liberian students.
