In partnership with the County Health Teams of Grand Bassa and River Cess Counties, the Nyonblee Cares Foundation (NCF) has successfully conducted a three-day surgical outreach in Compound #3, Wee District, benefiting 95 patients with various surgical conditions.
The outreach, held from February 27 to March 1, 2026, at the Gorblee Medical Center, provided free surgical procedures to patients who otherwise could not afford the cost of treatment.
Sponsored by the Foundation’s Founder, Senator Nyonblee Karnga-Lawrence, the outreach addressed ten (10) lipoma cases, eighty-four (84) hernia cases, and one (1) uterine fibroid, bringing relief to dozens of patients across the region.
The medical team was led by the Chief Medical Officers of Grand Bassa and River Cess Counties, Dr. Jude Wesseh and Dr. Dyujay Karngar, alongside three additional doctors from Montserrado and Bomi Counties. According to the organizers, all 95 patients admitted for surgery successfully survived their procedures, which were performed at no cost to the beneficiaries.
The outreach drew significant attention from surrounding communities, with more than 200 people presenting various surgical conditions at the health center. However, due to limited time and facility capacity, not all patients could be accommodated during the first phase of the outreach.
To address the remaining cases, NCF Director George Stewart announced that a second phase of the surgical outreach is scheduled for March 20–22, 2026, at the same health facility.
“With the Founder’s sponsorship, we are certain of carrying out a second round of these surgeries to benefit the needy,” Stewart said.
During a visit to the outreach site, Senator Nyonblee Karnga-Lawrence reaffirmed her commitment to supporting the Foundation’s humanitarian work.
She noted that her support enables the Foundation to respond to the health needs of people who cannot afford medical care, particularly life-improving surgical procedures.
The Foundation has previously conducted similar interventions. In 2023 and 2025, NCF sponsored surgical outreaches at the Government Hospital in Buchanan, where 195 patients benefited from various surgical procedures. With the addition of the recent outreach, the Foundation has now provided free surgeries to a total of 290 patients.
Surgical outreach remains one of the two flagship health interventions of the Nyonblee Cares Foundation. Mobile clinic is another. The Foundation also runs education programs, reflecting its broader mission of improving both health and educational opportunities for vulnerable communities.
