15-Year-Old Boy Dies After Taking In Kush Illicit Drug In Nimba, Liberia

NIMBA COUNTY, Liberia- The narcotic substance, Kush continues to have a serious toll on a large segment of the Liberian population, especially youths, with fresh report of 15-year-old boy, Menwon Quelamie dying after taking in this narcotic drug.

Young Menwon died in Bahn City, the northeastern Nimba County after reportedly taking in about two to three parcels of Kush.

According to two of the suspects arrested by the Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA) in Bahn, suspect Jerry Kardaon narrated that he was contacted by Son Jackson that he brought some Kush from Monrovia to Bahn as their Christmas food and requested them to pay 300LRD for parcel.

The 19-year-old Suspect Jerry Kardaon further narrated that while he and Son Jackson were smoking the Kush, the deceased Menwon Quelamie came and joined them in taking in the Kush, adding that 15-year-old Menwon immediately went unconscious after smoking his share of the Kush.

Jerry and Son maintained that upon their arrival at the Bahn Health Center, Menwon was pronounced dead by Health workers after a medical examination. Those arrested are Son Jackson age 17, and Jerry Kardaon age 19.

The incoming government of President-elect Joseph Boakai has made the fight against the increasing wave of narcotic drugs trafficking and use one of its major domestic policy objectives.

Meanwhile, the victim Menwon Quelamie was on Monday, December 25, 2023 laid to rest upon family request, while the two suspects are still undergoing police investigation.
