He went missing since February 11 this year and his whereabouts have not been known until over the Weekend to the relief of the people of Liberia’s northwestern Lofa County.
Reports from Lofa say, the 17-year-old 7th grade student of the Zorzor Central High school, Nyampee Johnson was brought to Liberia from neighbouring Guinea on March 3, 2018.
This Reporter, who witnessed the return of 17 year-old Nyampee, said the boy was brought back to Zorzor City by a 12-man delegation from the Republic on Guinea where he was discovered by Guinean police.
When news broke that the boy was found alive, women in the area were in joyous mood.
Weedor Jallah, a mother of three, indicated that this was the very first time for someone to go missing and be discovered alive in the area.
“There have been several cases here in Zorzor where people have gone missing and are discovered dead or are never seen at all,” Weedor said.
Another mother, Musu Kamara said that the discovery of 17-year-old Nyampee is a total deliverance for Zorzor district.
Nyampee Johnson mysteriously disappeared on Febrauary 11 after he had gone to help with the gathering of “palm kernals” for the production of kernel oil.
The situation that resulted to a massive search by both the citizens and security apparatus including road blocks by aggrieved students of the Zorzor Central high School hampering the free flow of traffic along the Zorzor-Voinjama highway.
The search continued until Thursday march 1, when it was reported that he was discovered in Guinea.
The boy was official;y turned over of the child to Zorzor district authorities on March 3, 2018 in the city of Zorzor, the Superintendent of Koryanma in Guinea, who spoke through an interpreter.
He said a vagarious search was also launched in Guinea after they were informed by the office of Zorzor district commissioner Madam Korlu Y. Beyan about the boy’s disappearance.
Receiving the child, Zorzor District Commissioner Korlu Beyan commanded her Guinean counterpart for their intervention in finding the child and said the move will help strengthen ties between the two countries.
According to her, the child will be taken for medical treatment, while local security forces are continuing with the investigation as to how the boy got missing from Zorzor.
For his part, Zorzor former city mayor Zubah Johnson who 17 years old Nyampee has lived with since birth described the boy’s discovery as a great relief for him and his family.
“People have said all kinds of negatives about us since this boy got missing but we think God for everything,” former Mayor Johnson said.
Meanwhile, reports say, three individuals are currently being charged for tempering with criminal investigation.
