Monrovia-A credible report from Nigeria reaching www.newspublic.com say three Liberia National Police officers, who are currently attending a conference in Abuja, are on the verge of being deported for allegedly carrying fake covid-19 certificates.

One of the police personnel is said to be a high ranking officer. The three police officers went along with two State Prosecutors at the Justice Ministry to attend a conference in the Nigerian capital, Abuja.

An urgent leaked message, sent one of the Liberians attending the conference obtained by this news outlet today, Friday, October 22, 2021, reads:

“The Nigerian health authorities alleged that the 3 LNP officers are in possession of fake COVID-19 results from Liberia,” the message says.

However, when contacted by our this news outlet via mobile phone Friday Morning, Liberia’s Police Inspector General (IG), Patrick Sudue denied that the officers were not traveling with fake Covid certificates, describing the move by the Nigerian authorities as a misunderstanding.

The Liberian Police IG said that his officers were not in possession of fake COVID-19 certificates but rather their results were in their phone and they allowed to travel with their results.

But upon their arrival, IG Sudue said they were asked for the certification and it wasn’t available at the time but he IG said, he communicated with the Nigeria health authority, but he was told by the health authority that they made their decision to send them back to Liberia.

According to one of the Liberians attending the Abuja conference, the action of the Nigerian authorities to ordered the deportation of the Liberian officials came as a surprise.

“They communicated with the Nigerian Minister of Health and the President. The President of Nigeria has ordered their immediate deportation. They will be deported tomorrow at 10 AM. The LACC officer and me will continue the function on behalf of Liberia…So embarrassing,” says the communication from Abuja. Report by Garmah Never Lomo, garmahlomo@gmail.com
