KAKATA, Liberia- Media reports after reports displaying the image of the one and only old police patrol pickup have been published for years in various news outlets both in Margibi County and Monrovia, but now the Liberia National Police detachment in this County has now received a new patrol vehicle.
After numerous appeals, the local Police Detachment here has proudly welcomed its first new patrol vehicle, after eight years of struggle, something that will help in boosting the law enforcers’ capabilities.
However, during the same period the government spent millions of US dollars procuring vehicles for the County’s lawmakers and all of the 103 Senators and Representatives, who each get a brand new vehicle for the first three years at a cost of US$45,000.00.
In any case this much-anticipated addition of one new police vehicle for the Margibi Police detachment comes at a critical time, as the local police work to enhance public safety and improve community relations through more effective policing strategies.
The newly assigned patrol vehicle which was officially unveiled at a ceremony attended by local government officials, community leaders, and members of the law enforcement was provided by the current Commissioner of police Margibi County police Detachments ACP Patrick Kormazu. Speaking on a local Radio in Margibi, citizens expressed gratitude and reflected on nearly a decade of operating with outdated or insufficient vehicles in the County which hampered law enforcers’ ability to respond promptly to emergencies and carry out regular patrols.
The Chief of Police for Margibi County, ACP Patrick Kormazu emphasized the impact the new vehicle will have on policing efforts throughout the region. “This vehicle represents more than just a mode of transportation; it symbolizes our commitment to serving the community effectively and safely,” he stated. “With improved response times and an increased presence on the streets, we will be better equipped to foster security and trust within our community.”
The introduction of the patrol vehicle is expected to address several ongoing challenges faced by the Margibi County Police Detachment, including limited mobility in remote areas, delays in responding to distress calls, and an inability to conduct regular patrols in high-crime neighborhoods. Local residents have complained about lengthy wait times for police assistance, which often escalated tense situations.
In addition to enhancing operational efficiency, the presence of a new patrol vehicle is likely to bolster community confidence in law enforcement. Residents expressed their relief at the news, hopeful that the vehicle will lead to a safer environment. “It’s good to see the police getting the resources they need to do their job,” said Moses Johnson, a local resident. “It gives us more trust in the police and helps us feel more secure in our environment.”
Officials also highlighted that this new vehicle is part of a broader strategy to revitalize the county’s law enforcement infrastructure. There are already additional training for police officers, improve community engagement initiatives, and develop crime prevention programs that directly involve residents.
The acquisition of the patrol vehicle comes at an opportune moment, as Margibi County, like many regions, faces growing challenges related to crime and public safety. Law enforcement agencies are increasingly under pressure to adapt and respond to evolving threats while fostering community trust and collaboration.
As the Margibi County Police Detachment prepares to hit the streets in their new vehicle, the community anticipates heightened safety measures and a more responsive police presence. This landmark development is a testament to the commitment of local authorities to invest in the resources necessary for effective policing and the overall well-being of the community.
For more updates on community safety initiatives and law enforcement efforts in Margibi County, residents are encouraged to participate in local forums and engage with their police department. Several training are ongoing under the leadership of ACP Patrick Kormazu since his accendency as head of Police in Margibi.
“We are working in all communities in the five electoral Districts to ensure that our people safety are poritized. We have initiated community policing and created additional deports to dengerous zones in Margibi,” ACP Patrick Kormazu added.
