TEMPLE OF JUSTICE, Monrovia- The ex-wife of former Liberian President Charles Taylor, Dr. Revees Taylor has dragged war crimes advocate Hassan Bility and his Global Justice and Research Project at the Sixth Judicial Civil Law court before his Honor Judge Kennedy Peabody for Damages for malicious prosecution and wrong, as Garmah Never Lomo reports.

Dr. Taylor, who is currently Executive Director of the Liberian institute of policy studies and Research at the University of Liberia, filed her law suit in Liberia’s circuit court on May 10, 2022 against the GJR and its partner Civitas Maxima based in Europe.

A British court few years ago dropped charges against her that she committed torture during Liberia’s 14 years civil war.

The court in London dismissed 8-count charges against the woman referred during Charles Taylor’s NPFL rebel was in the 1990s as “mother of the revolution.” Seven counts of torture and one count of conspiracy to torture charges against Mrs. Taylor could not see the light of day. She was accused of conspiring to use rape to torture women during the Liberian civil war in 1990.

Dr. Taylor, 54, who had been in asylum in the UK for over 20 years and lectured at several British Universities, has since taken up issue with Hassan Bility and his group.

Now few years after her successfully legal battle in Britain, she is claiming damages against her accusers in a Liberian court.

According to the plaintiff complaint, because plaintiff submits and contends that the defendant knowingly organized, contrived and cooperated and connived to maliciously perpetrate an offense and crime against the plaintiff and to surfer the plaintiff inflict untold suffering against the plaintiff, destroyed her family and reputation thereby ruining her life, knowing and being fully aware that the trump up charges of torture and war crimes against her was false, mere fabrication against the plaintiff without a scintilla truth  or probable cause or excuse that could have warranted such onslaughts against not only the plaintiff  but also against the criminal justice system in the United Kingdom and the unsuspecting civilized war but was anxious to prosecute war crimes everywhere universally to guarantee that there will be no safe heaven for war crimes perpetrators anywhere in the world.

Ex- president Taylor’s wife in her nineteen-count complaint against Hassan Bility of the Global justice and Research project of Monrovia said,

Further to count one above, plaintiff contends that so glaring was the falsity of the allegation against the plaintiff that the court in Great Britain dismissed without reservations all charges brought by the defendant against plaintiff and release the plaintiff without a day, never to answer those charges of war crimes ever again. Hence, this cause of action will lies against the within named defendant for reason stated herein.

Count three of her complaint says that also because of plaintiff contends further that prior to the unholy alliance of the defendant, co-defendant Alive Werner worked with the special court for Sierra Leone, as an attorney where he obtained access to the confidential data base of Sierra Leone special court, and became curiously aware of the determination of the international community to prosecute war crimes and the availability of funding to support to war crimes prosecution.

Count four says that plaintiff contends that co-defendant became acquainted when defendant Hassan Bility testified at the very Sierra Leone Special court during the war crimes trial of former president Charles Taylor as a witness for the prosecution. Plaintiff gave notice that she will subpoena co-defendant of Global Justice to produce original copies of the said document during trial.

Further above, plaintiff contends that co-defendant Alvin Werner left the Special Court for Sierra Leone and secured funding in 2012 which was used to set up Civitas maxima for the objective expressed in the organization website.

Pursuant to this effort, plaintiff contended further that co-defendant Alvin Werner contacted co-defendant Hassan Bility on how best to use the funds given his intention to send young law school graduates or students to Liberia to conduct interviews with potential witnesses and hence co-defendant Hassan Bility has better ideas.

And also plaintiff contended that co-defendant Hassan Bility persuaded his boss, his superiors or benefactor that the fund could be better spent on training ten to fifteen Liberians to do the work on the ground in Liberia that westerners were intended to do under the original plan. This led to the formation of the Global Justice and Research Project in 2013 headed by co-defendant Hassan Bility as an offshoot of Civitas maxima operating in Liberia, West Africa.

Wherefore and in view of the forgoing, plaintiff prayed court as follows:

To adjudge the named co-defendants liable for malicious prosecution and wrong perpetrated against plaintiff by them which are actionable per.

Award the amount of US$ 515,000,000.00 for all sundry presented in this complaint and as general damages sufficient enough to restore her prestige and reputation and compensate her for the injury against her person.

Rule the said co-defendants to pay all costs and grant into plaintiff any and all such further relief this court would deem just, legal and equitable under the given circumstances.

Meanwhile, the court has also issued a writ of summon on defendants Hassan Bility of Liberia and Alvin Werner of Switzerland/ Europe to appear before the Sixth Judicial Circuit Court of Montserrado County sitting in its June A.D 2022 on the third Monday in June A.D 2022 at 10am to answer to the complaint of plaintiff that upon their failure to appear, judgement by default will be rendered against them.
