‎Monrovia, Liberia — Taptap Send Liberia, a mobile money transfer service, on Saturday donated assorted food items to Muslims worshipping at the Duport Road Mosque, as part of efforts to support the Muslim community as they round up the holy month of Ramadan.‎

‎The donation took place at the Duport Road Mosque in Paynesville, where representatives of the company joined members of the Muslim community during the breaking of the fast.

‎‎Speaking during the presentation on behalf of Taptap Send Liberia, a Liberian Influencer Dominic Yoryor, popularly known as “STILL MIE,” said the initiative was intended to identify with Muslims observing Ramadan and to show appreciation for their spiritual commitment during the sacred period.‎

‎According to Still Mie, the food packages distributed included bowls of fried rice, fried chicken, apples, and soft drinks.

‎‎He described the donation as the first of its kind by Taptap Send Liberia and part of the company’s commitment to giving back to communities across the country.‎

‎“Taptap Send believes in supporting communities and celebrating with Liberians during important moments like Ramadan,” Yorkor said. “This is just one way of showing solidarity with our Muslim brothers and sisters during this holy month.”

‎‎He also used the occasion to encourage Liberians living abroad to continue using the Taptap Send app to send money home, describing it as a secure, fast, and easy platform for international money transfers.

‎‎Yoryor further called for unity among Liberians, urging citizens to avoid discrimination and instead promote togetherness for peace and national development.

‎‎For his part, Alahan Bandan, Chief  Imam of the Duport Road Mosque, expressed gratitude to Taptap Send Liberia for the gesture.‎

‎Imam Bandan thanked the company for remembering the Muslim community and prayed for Allah’s continued blessings upon the organization.‎

‎The Imam also assured that members of the mosque would continue to pray for peace, unity, and prosperity in Liberia.

‎‎Ramadan, one of the most sacred months in Islam, is observed by Muslims worldwide through fasting, prayer, and acts of charity.‎

‎The holy month also includes the Night of Power, known as Laylatul Qadr, believed to be the most blessed night of the year.

‎‎Because the Islamic calendar follows the lunar cycle, Ramadan shifts by about 10 days earlier each year.‎

‎The holy month begins after the end of Sha’ban, the eighth month of the Islamic calendar.‎

‎This year, many Muslims began observing Ramadan on the evening of February 17, 2026. The fasting period is expected to end around March 18, depending on the sighting of the moon, after which Muslims will celebrate Eid al-Fitr, marking the end of the holy month.
