Alfalit Liberia says it has commenced the training of 216 teachers for its 2019 Adults Literacy Program in Liberia. The training is benefiting the newly recruited teachers as well as the old teachers from Montserrado, Bong, Bomi, Margibi and Grand Bassa Counties.
The training is aimed at preparing the teachers for this 2019 program cycle that is expected to enroll 4,000 adult learners across all the Alfalit operating counties, according to a press statement issued on Tuesday.
Madam Marie Morris, Alfalit Liberia’s Monitor, the training of the teachers is critical to achieving the learning goals of the students and better to enhance the performances of the classrooms teachers.
Over the weekend, the training department led by its supervisor Mr. Jerome Williams concluded the Montserrado phase of the training benefiting 140 facilitators (teachers), while the Grand Bassa training targets 16 facilitators, Bong, 17, Margibi County 22, while Bomi has 13 teachers and partner’s institutions 8 teachers.
The new teachers are being trained into the Alfalit Model of teaching adult learners, lesson presentation from the Alfalit literacy books while the old teachers are being refreshed in all of the literacy materials and the teacher’s evaluation.
In a related development, Alfalit Liberia has announced that it is increasing the number of literacy centers this year from 51 to 75 centers with the establishment of 24 new centers in communities across the counties. The new centers were made available based on request made by communities, and organizations.
Alfalit Liberia, founded in 2006 is an Affiliate of Alfalit International based in Miami, Florida USA. It’s a faith-based Christian origination that teaches illiterate youths and adults who missed out on the basic education teaching them to read, write and do simple arithmetic. The mission of Alfalit is “to eradicate human suffering caused by illiteracy”.
Alfalit Liberia currently operates 52 literacy centers benefiting over 3 thousand adult learners and 201 teachers in Montserrado, Grand Bassa, Bong, Bomi and Margibi Counties.
