Amid Protest In Maryland, Gov’t To Conduct Autopsy On Corpse Of A TU Student

PLEEBO, Liberia- Maryland Superintendent, George A. Prowd has assured citizens and residents that a pathologist will be brought into the county to conduct an autopsy on the corpse of a 24-year-old university student, Anthony Tiaka, who died mysteriously.

Tiaka’s lifeless body was discovered about 5:00 p.m. in his room on Sunday, July 3, 2022 in the Zone 5 Community, Pleebo city.

This week, hundreds of protesters have peacefully taken to the streets in the commercial city of the southeaster Maryland County, call on local authorities and national government’s attention to the mysterious death of a student of the Tubman University (TU) in Harper city, some 555 kilometers from Monrovia.

A report quotes a 12-member coroner Jury as saying that when Tiaka’s body was examined his eyes were bruised, his forehead hit, piercing over his penis, bleeding from other parts of his body.

According to family sources, the deceased returned from Harper at about 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 30, 2022 and went to bed.

He was not seen up till Sunday, when he was discovered dead.

The death of the William V.S. Tubman University student, which many term as mysterious, continues to raise suspicion amongst citizens and residents of the county with citizens demanding justice.

Superintendent Prowd, in a meeting with citizens on Thursday, July 7 also announced that government will underwrite the cost of Tiaka’s embalmment up to the arrival of the pathologist in the county to establish the cause of his death.

The Superintendent believes that the conduct of an autopsy on the deceased will remedy the situation of pointing fingers at the wrong people.

He assured citizens that the reports submitted to him during the meeting by the Liberia National Police, containing the deceased medical report, will be forwarded to the Ministers of Justice and Internal Affairs to enable government take the right steps that will bring to an end to suspicions surrounding Tiaka’s death.

Pleebo Sodoken District women, dressed in black attires, on Thursday stormed the office of Statutory Superintendent Aloysius Williams to announce unspecified actions, if nothing is done to establish the cause of the death of the 24-year-old man.
