Bringing To 7 The Number Of Lifeless Bodies Discovered In Recent Times

BUCHANAN, Liberia- The lifeless body of an identified man has been discovered floating on the Benson River in the Paynesberry Community close to the port city of Buchanan.

This brings to seven the total number dead bodies that have been discovered on rivers across Grand Bassa County in recent times.

The body of man was found early Tuesday Morning at 8Am GMT by a resident of the Four Houses community, John Peter.

Peter, a 46-year-old man said that when he went to the river early Tuesday morning to buy fish from the fishermen, body of the man floating on the river.

Out of fear of being accused and arrested by the Police, Mr. Peter explained that he did not tell anyone that he saw a dead body on the river and he hurriedly left the scene.

“At 8am this morning, I ran to the bridge to buy fish from the fishermen but unfortunately I did not see anyone when I got there. While on my way back home, I saw the body floating on the water. Out of fear before someone come lie no me, I did not tell anybody I went back to my house,” Peter said.

The Physician Assistant and Officer in Charge of the Liberia Government Hospital, Joseph Zondoe later examined the body and pronounced him dead.

Mr. Zondoe noted the unidentified man’s body parts including his teeth, eyes were all intact, though he said some were apparently eaten up by other water creatures he did not name.

He also would not establish whether there was foul play or not.

However, the Grand Bassa detachment of the Liberia National Police has launched an investigation to establish the man’s identity and to also find out the cause of his death.
