-CEO initiates move to curb the menace

GBARNGA, Liberia- Amid the rise in maternal mortality and teenage pregnancy, efforts are being made to help curb the situation.
The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the New Hope Pregnancy Center (NHPC) in the central city of Gbarnga Bong County, Aaron Kulah Garyemah want Liberians work with the Ministry of Health (MOH), including other humanitarian organizations to curb maternal death and teenage pregnancy in Liberia.
Speaking with www.newspublictrust.com recently at the center in Gbarnga, Mr. Garyemah described maternal death and teenage pregnancy as a national disaster that need the attention of all citizens. “We as people of Liberia need to stand on our feet and help the ministry of health to disseminate some of the information about teenage pregnancy and the issue of maternal death,” he adds.
According to CEO Garyemah, the issue of teenage pregnancy, maternal death including other form of related issue is long time and global concern that all Liberians can get rid of.
Mr. Garyemah wants citizens of the country to create more awareness in various communities in order to get more aware of the negative effects of teenage pregnancy and maternal death.
He further encourages adolescent girls that are pregnant to make a maximum use of the Center in order to discourage abortion in the Country.
Mr. Garyemah said teenage pregnancy and maternal death is an age old issues that needs to be address by the government of Liberia through the Ministry of Health and all meaningful Liberians urgently.
Also speaking to reporters, the Chairman of the board at New Hope Pregnancy Center in Gbarnga Mrs. Betty Ruth Berley said the NHPC was established in the central region of the Country to provide counseling and teaching teenager’s girl how to prepare them for the future.
Mrs. Berley said the institution was also founded to give hope to venerable girls that are caring child and don’t know their ways out adding the center is also meant to provide counseling for adolescent girl’s including teaching the gospel to them.
NHPC Chairman Betty Ruth Berley further stressed the needs for underage’s girl that are impregnated to regularly visit the center for spiritual deliverance and counseling.
An appeal has been made to well-meaning Liberian humanitarian organizations and the national government to assist the institution fund some of its activities in Bong County.
Mrs. Berley said if they are to operate smoothly in creating awareness across the Bong County and its surroundings preaching the message of the negative effect of teenage pregnancy and maternal death.
