GBARNGA, Liberia-The Political Leader of the opposition All Liberian Party (ALP), Benoni Wilfred Urey has commended former Bong County Independent candidate in the October 8, 2020 special senatorial election, Mohammed A. Nasser, who at the weekend officially joined his party.
The All Liberian Party (ALP) is one of the constituent parties of the four Collaborating Political Parties (CPP). It includes the Alternative National Congress (ANC) of Alexander B. Cummings; Liberty Party (LP) of Senator Nyonblee Karnga-Lawrence; and the Unity Party (UP) of former Vice President Joseph Nyumah Boakai.
On February 21, 2019, the four parties making up the CPP consummated a collaborative document to forge a common front in the political processes of the country.
The collaborative document, signed under the captioned, “Statement of Commitment” was geared towards working together collective to democratically unseat the Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC) led-government of President George Manneh Weah in future elections due to “massive suffering, corruption, accumulation of wealth by the President to the detriment of the Liberian people, bad governance, disrespect for the rule of law,” among others.
Speaking at the political office of Mr. Nasser in Gbarnga last Friday, 22 October 2021, Mr. Urey said that the ALP is not about any individual, but it belongs to all Liberians irrespective of their personal feelings.
As he welcomed and received Nasser and his supporters joining the party, Mr. Urey said the action of the Bong county industrial son signifies that he is ready to fight for the liberation of Liberians and the country.
“The fact that you and your team show up today to gain memberships into the All Liberian Party is a sign that you are willing to fight for your people and country,” he said.
The ALP leader termed the new memberships as a display of might that has sent caveat to those recycled politicians who he described as greedy hunters who have been using and abusing ordinary citizens.
According to Mr. Urey, the ALP vision bearer indicated that the true meaning of public servant is to serve the people and not to enrich yourself while the vast majority of the people suffer.
The ALP political leader also informed the gathering that the CPP remain strong, united and unwavering.
“No ephemeral attraction, no distraction will steer us away from our goals. We are set to win in 2023 and redirect the course of our history,” businessman Urey said.
“Despite all the noise you hearing in the CPP, I can assure you all all Liberians, wherever you are in the world that the collaboration is on yourselves, we are strong and becoming more stronger by the day. We will continue to demonstrate our collaboration purpose in pursuing the path of providing alternative and responsible leadership for the people of Liberia,” the ALP political leader added.
Nasser on unity of the opposition
In remarks, Mr. Nasser extended commendations to members of the party local officials in the county and on the national scene for keeping the spirit of togetherness.
“I can assure you Mr. Urey and the collaboration that we have to join get more united and determined to move forward together as an alliance, joining with millions of other Liberians across this country and the Diaspora to break the cycle of abject poverty, impunity, illiteracy, disease, social injustice, dictatorship, corruption and other challenges that haunt the present, and most profoundly the future,” the defeated Bong County Senatorial candidate said.
Nasser officially joining the ALP
In order to authenticate his political marriage with the party, Mr. Nasser immediately signed his membership form.
According to him, the nation and its people have suffered for so long and as such he is going to be that one to help save his people and country from their bondage when elected to the house of Senate comes 2023.
“As a son of Bong county who have lived with his people since birth, said he understand the pains of our mothers who work in sweltering heat on the farm or in the market, and yet barely make it while some public officials steal the national coffers. We understand the frustration of students who toil in school and cannot find a job upon graduation,” said Mr. Nasser.
He then assured the ALP that he will go from place to place in the county and outside to encourage Liberians join the party in the coming days.
Welcoming his new colleagues earlier, Bong county district #7 Representative, Joseph Papa Kolleh and chairman of the CPP Legislative caucus at the house of Representatives, thanked Mr. Nasser for taken the honorable step in joining the ALP and the CPP at large.
Rep. Kolleh described the new membership of Mr. Nasser in the ALP as “a big boost”, owning to the fact that Nasser contested in the 2020 special senatorial election and come third despite the big names.
He said that ALP and the CPP are political parties in Liberia to liberate the masses, calling on all Liberians to form part of a better country.
