SPORTS: Under 12 George Willie Scores His First Goal For Club

The long awaited El’classico in the Gardnerville LFA Sub-Committee Under-12 League came to an end over the weekend in the Gardnersville suburb of Monrovia.

This was in continuation for the championship for the 2022-2023 League Season at the Tusa Field Sports Stadium in Gardnerville.

It was Christ United Football Academy (CUFA) of Barnesville Estate first defeat in the tournament. The Barnesville Estate based academy suffers a 2-1 defeat to Grassfield Athletic Club (GAC) on Saturday, 24 September at the venue of the tournament.

Both teams played to a goalless draw at halftime after an entertaining game displayed but it was after the break that GAC got the two goals with Christ United Football Academy tails man, Devine Willie who came in second half got the consolation goal for his team.

The meeting between the Gardnerville based academy GAC and the Barnesville Estate-based Academy (CUFA) is the first meeting between the two teams in the tournament. The win for Grassfield Athletic Club (GAC) moves the team to fourth place on the league table while the defeat for Christ United Football Academy drops the team to fifth place.

The win for GAC marks the second win for the team over CUFA in all competition. Both teams met three (3) times in all competitions, with GAC winning two while CUFA winning one.

Elsewhere, ANSSA got a heavy victory over Junior United Academy with an 8-0 score line to maintain second place on the table.

Table topper City Academy fought hard to get a narrow 2-1 victory against City Ranger. Favor grabs her first win against Hope to escape from the drop zone.

As it stands, City Academy maintained top spot as ANSSA levelled points with them.

The league continues on October 1, 2022 at the Tusa Field Sports Pitch in Gardnerville, with six matches beginning at 9:00Am.
