The opposition All Liberian Party (ALP) of top Liberian businessman Benoni W> Urey has categorically denied holding a meeting with the ruling CDC party of President George Weah, but is yet to say who the party will be backing in the upcoming October 10 presidential and legislative elections.

ALP is reacting to reports in some media outlets about a recent meeting allegedly held by Mr. Urey with top CDC officials at a local hotel in Monrovia.

Until weeks ago, Urey and his ALP was in alliance with the main opposition Unity Party of former Vice President Joseaph Boakai. But it recently broke ranks from the former ruling party over public feud over “betrayal” after reports that Boakai had promised to make one of Urey party’s executive Henry P. Costa his running mate.

Less than eight days to elections, the ALP in a statement dated Wednesday, July 19, 2023, fell short of ruling out future alliance with the CDC.

For reestablishing any alliance with Boakai and his UP, ALP recently ruled out any possibility of this happening in upcoming October 10 elections.

Urey and some key executives of his party were previously strong supporters of Weah’s Congress for Democratic Change.
