Bong County Health Officer Says COVID-19 Fight Going Well But Must Not Relent

GBARNGA, Liberia-Bong County Health Officer Dr., Jonathan Flomo has extended thanks and appreciation to frontline medical practitioners and ordinary residents across the county for their continuous efforts in fighting COVID-19.

Appearing on a live talk show on one of the community radio stations (Super Bongese FM 104.9.MHz) in this central city recently, Dr. Flomo prsised the people of Bong and neighboring counties for the continue support rendered to health practitioners in the county.

He also thanked the office of Liberia’s vice President, Chief Jewel Howard Taylor for always reaching out to them, especially during this period of crisis in the country.

He named the vice president recent 1,200 test kits donation to the Bong County Health Team to be used at the county treatment center as some of the contributions of madam Taylor since the outbreak.

The head of the Bong County Health Team used the medium to announced the arrival of some doses of the Johnson and Johnson or J&J vaccine in the county, but advised people who have already taken the AstraZeneca vaccine to not take the J&J vaccine.

“We want to inform our people that please don’t take the J&J vaccine if you have already taken the AstraZeneca because doing so will be very much dangerous for you. But for those of you that have not taken the AstraZeneca vaccine you can now take the J&J, it’s good for all of us, ” Dr. Flomo added.

Under his able leadership as County Health Team Officer, Dr. Flomo maintained that he along with his team’s are working with partners so as to mitigate some of the challenges facing the health sector.

Moreover, Dr. Flomo reiterates the need for protective actions by all citizens as a means of stopping the spread of this disease, with a call on all Liberians to keep following the health protocols.
