Bong County Sen. Moye Calls For Peace To Reign In Liberia

GBARGA, Liberia- The main opposition Unity Party (UP) Campaign manager in Bong County is calling for peace to reign in his county and across Liberia, while congratulating Bongese for their support towards the his party’s victory in the November 14 presidential runoff election.

Senator Prince Kermue Moye said residents of this central County must be appreciated for their support to the party for their astute decision.

The Bong Senator explained that during the heat of the campaign, monies were being dished out in the county to influence the citizens’ decision, but didn’t work.

The senate committee on education chair pointed out that the exemplary roles displayed by Bongese is a true quest for better leadership.

The former deputy speaker of the 54th National legislature believes a new Liberia is possible under ambassador Joseph Nyumah Boakai.

He wants partisans of both UP and the CDC smoke peace pipe for the country’s interest.

According to the national elections commission, of the 5890 polling places constituting 100%, the Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC) of President George Weah gathered 793,914 (49.36%) votes while the former ruling Unity Party of Joseph Boakai received 814,481 (50.64%).

President-elect Boakai among several cross-cutting issues after his inauguration in January of 2024, has the utmost task of reconciling the country.

As many Liberians maintain high expectation in the Unity Party administration headed by Mr. Boakai, the implementation of his promises is key as President has promised “to keep his feet to the fire as a strong opposition”.

Already, the “rescue team” of Ambassador Boakai has promised to address Agriculture, Roads, Rule of Law, Education, Sanitation and Tourism.

Ambassador Boakai has also promised to fight corruption by bringing corrupt public officials to book.

Recently, President George Manneh Weah of the ruling Coalition for Democratic Change congratulated former Liberia vice president Joseph Boakai.

His statement followed, the recent pronouncement of the consolidated November 14, 2023 result by the National Elections Commission of 99.58%.

President Weah congratulated Liberians for voting during the runoff election and deciding the country leaders.

He wants Liberians focus on building the country and avoid messages that have the propensity to damage the country fragile peace.

President Weah, who promised a stronger come back in 2029 then called on CDcains and opposition members to work in lifting the country interest above self and party’s goal.
