GBARTALA, Liberia- In the countdown to the October 10 presidential and legislative elections, aspirants across the country are reaching out into various communities and implementing various projects.

One of them is a Senatorial aspirant in the central Bong County who is providing Solar streets lights to over 1,000 towns across the County.

Mr. Mohammed A. Nasser says the gesture is intended to provide security to his people.

Mr. Nasser, who contested in previous elections, reminded Bongese of his countless contributions ranging from youth empowerment to the provision of educational opportunities in the County.

“I have commenced the solar panel lights distribution processes across major towns and villages in Bong to help my people. They need these lights to enable them see their surroundings at night. Kids of these towns and villages will also converge under these lights for educational processes,” Mr. Nasser explained.

The Bong County Senatorial contender urged them to adequately provide security for these lights, this promising more when elected.

“Since birth, I haven’t abandoned my people; not just because I want to be senator, but because of the love I have to change their lives. Let me tell you, these people need better living conditions. I will also be around,” he assured.

Currently, the solar street lights have been distributed in 10 of Bong’s 13 administrative districts.

“By the next two weeks, we will complete the entire county. We’re presenting these lights and leaving no major towns and villages out” he disclosed.

If elected, Mohammed A. Nasser has vowed to focus on educational opportunities through the provision of scholarships, infrastructure development, agriculture, advocacy and a floor fighter to fully represent his people.

Beneficiaries grateful

Meanwhile, many of the beneficiaries of those towns and villages lauded the All Liberian Party’s Bong senatorial aspirant for the lights.

They assured him of proper maintenance, stressing “these lights will really us in that our children will sit under them for study purpose”.

“We weren’t expecting this as many of us are just returning from the farm. Seeing these lights, we’re very happy as it will serve as a security for us” some chiefs, youth leaders, women leaders and elders told Journalists over the weekend.

Bong County residents present further pledged their unflinching support to his senatorial ambition in the county.

The beneficiaries openly pleaded with Mr. Mohammed Nasser not to abandon them when he’s elected, because they said: “We have been neglected by past and some current lawmakers. All they want was the position, as soon as we gave them the power, they didn’t come back. We’re now seeing some of them around because we are going to election, but we will pay them.”
