CDC denies existence of any “Rest list” or “Corruption list”

(Last Updated On: )

The Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC) has dismissed as a fabrication a “Rest list” that has been circulating on Social Media and on local radio, targeting some figures who are not to be included in the incoming government of President-elect George Weah.

CDC Secretary General Janga Kowo told www.newspublictrust.com on Sunday that, ”there is no Rest list…It’s absolutely not true.”

Kowo said the CDC will later come out with a statement to debunk the purported list said to have come from the Youth Wing of the party recently, mandated Weah to let the targeted individuals “to take a break from the corridor of power.”

But the CDC Secretary General said nothing of such exists in the party.

And when asked about reports that another “Corruption list” existed this time blacklisting alleged current and former officials of outgoing government of President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, Kawo also rubbished the existence of such a list.

Since the list was made public, it has sparked serious outcry in some quarters, with some of those named on the purported list expressing fear that it could have far reaching implications and it amounts to them being black-listed.

In the purported “Red list”, which contains no signatures was first made public by the local Radio, OK Fm. And it warned the CDC’s Standard Bearer that “any attempt to appoint anyone on this list will be fiercely resisted! We trust the judgement of our leaders! Till then we submit!”

On the purported “Rest list” are many executives, stalwarts and collaborators of the the defeated outgoing Unity Party (UP) including Information Minister Eugene Nagbe, UP’s executives Amos Tweh, Mo Ali, Press Secretary J. Piah, Liberian diplomat to Qatar Ali Syllah, among others.

Last week, the Liberia National Police (LNP) arrested and detained several persons who were allegedly selling what they said were job application forms for positions in the incoming CDC-led government. The forms were being sold for less than one hundred Liberian dollars.

The individuals are now being interrogated by the police.

“The below listed individuals need to take a break for the corridor of power. Not only did their hardline anti CDC anti Weah rhetoric tried to stained the impeccable reputation of our Political leader and party, but they have the propensity to undermined our efforts to succeed in order to validate their assertion that our leadership will destroy the nation we seek to save.
