The Civil Law Court in Monrovia has issued a Writ of Summon against Liberian Vice President Jewel Howard-Taylor in connection with a US$1.2 Million lawsuit, as the standoff between her and the President of the Liberia Marketing Association (LMA) continues.

Judge Yussif Kaba issued the Writ on Tuesday, February 5, 2019 against the Liberian Vice President as a result of her ongoing dispute with the embattled LMA President Alice Yeebehn and two other marketing association officials in a 1.2 million dollars Action of Damage for Wrong lawsuit at Civil Law Court.

They were suspended from office last year by VP Taylor.

Madam Yeebehn’s lawyer Cllr. Arthur Johnson has accused VP Taylor of suspending his client illegally in violation of due process as contained in Article-20 of the Constitution of Liberia.

Cllr. Johnson claims that the Vice President Taylor’s action against his client has caused emotional and mental embarrassment as well as pain and suffering.

The LMA embattle President’s lawyer maintains that their Action of Damage for Wrong will lie against the Liberian Vice President, pleading with the Court to hold her libel for the amount in question as provided by law.

Madam Alice Yeebehn and the two others’ legal action has compelled the Court to order VP Taylor to respond before February 15, or Judgment of default will be rendered as provided by law.

The latest 1.2 million action of damage lawsuit comes at the time when Vice President Howard-Taylor is seeking to overturn Judge Scheaplor Dunbar’s  January 16 verdict  with an appeal at the Supreme Court Liberia.
