Cooperative Farmers In Gbarpolu Receive US$8,500 Farming Equipment

A group of cooperative farmers in Liberia’s northwestern Gbarpolu County has benefitted from farming equipment valued at US$8,500.

The equipment was given by European Union (EU) through Africa Rice and the ministry of Agriculture.

At the same time, there are 13 persons undergoing intensive a one-week training in the direction of how to use the equipment for better production of vegetables and grow rice.

The Power Tiller along with a harvester are intended to tilt the soil as well as harvest rice.

Some of the participants in the training said they are happy of the machine given to them which will make their work easier, fast and economical. They are therefore extending thanks and appreciation to Africa Rice and want  more empower-mentioned from the donors.

For his part, the trainer of the group, Dr. Olujah Amoufu  cautioned  the trainees to manage the equipment so that more can be added to the one given to them.

In an interview held at Fawen Town last Saturday, December 11, 202,1 Gbarpolu County Agriculture Coordinator, Mrs. Weedor Sedebay encouraged the trainees to take the training seriously for better production.

She added that agriculture is best means to put food on our tables and money in our pockets.
