The Supreme Court of Liberia has upheld the conviction of former Police Inspector General Beatrice Munah Sieh-Brown and four others for stealing over One Hundred Thousand United States Dollars (US$100,000.00) from Liberia National Police (LNP).

The former Police Chief and her Deputy, Harris Mannah Dunn was in a conspiracy with a Nigerian Businessman, Prince Aknermi and three others in 2015 and stole the amount in question that was intended to purchase police ERU uniforms.

That was during the administration of former ruling Unity Party (UP).

The ERU is a special unit of the national police formed during the administration of former President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf to combat armed robbery and other terroristic acts.

Reading the Supreme Court’s opinion Friday, Associate Justice Sie-Nyene Yuoh affirmed the Subordinate Court’s verdict saying that the weight of evidence adduced in court by government lawyers met the legal requirement to convict the former Police Inspector General Beatrice Munah Sieh-Brown and four for economic sabotage, theft of property, criminal facilitation and criminal conspiracy.

The High Court’s February 7, opinion has instructed the Subordinate Court to resume jurisdiction over matter in order enter the final sentence for the former Police Chief and four others consistent with law.

The former Liberian Police Inspector General Beatrice Munah Sieh-Brown and the four others were indicted in 2025 by Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf’s administrative for multiple offenses ranging from economic sabotage, theft of property, criminal facilitation and criminal conspiracy.

There is no reaction so far from the former Police chief. But she had in the past pleaded not guilty of stealing the money for police uniforms.
