About fifty children beginning from nursery to 12th level are expected to be fully sponsored by a local organization, Destined Kids Assistance Program in Liberia
Destined Kids Assistance Program is a nonprofit and nongovernmental organization funded 2012, with the aim of providing empowerment opportunity for both school and business for needy children of marginalized disabled families in society.
The Organization since 2013, annually host a back to school event aimed at empowering about hundred out of school children get back to school through sponsorship and the provision of other school materials with support from Kids Educational Engagement Project or KEEP a local nonprofit organization.
Speaking recently at the organization’s annual back to school bash for academic 2021/ 2022 in Paynesville City, the Founder and Executive Director of Destined Kids Assistance Program, Helena Wenneh explained that the initiative will sponsor about fifty needy children of marginalized families with disabilities and orphans in Montserrado. She said this is due to the current economic crisis being experienced in the country.
‘’We want to get children ready for this academic year, the program seeks to empower needy children of marginalized families with disabilities, orphans and children with disabilities who are school drop out to get back to school,’’ Madam Wenneh noted.
According to the organization’s Executive Director, education is a right that must not be taken away from any child as a result of their parent’s disabilities or death in society noting that children are foundation of any nation.
She however, challenged Liberians most especially parents to stop looking down on their children but urged them to focus on their children education.
Liberians, Madam Wenneh observed, are in the constant behavior of overlooking their children adding that now is the time for the future generation issue is taken care of properly in their education.
According to her, individuals most especially politicians play on the right of children as a result of them not having voter cards explaining that if the children are taken care of, Liberia as a nation will be transform.
“If Liberia must be better, it must start with the children which as consider as foundation and if the foundation is solidity, Liberia will be transform,’’ the head of Destiny Kids maintained.
Madam Helena Wenneh is appealing to government, humanitarians and individuals to her provide sponsorship for at least one or more children get back to school.
In remarks, the Founder of Kids Educational Engagement Project or KEEP a local nonprofit organization Madam Brenda Brewer Moore who is also helping to sponsor several children presented forty-three thousand Liberian dollars ( $43,000LD) to the organization to enable them sent more children this academic.
Madam Moore however thanked Madam Wenneh for such great initiative for providing sponsorship for several children in Liberia.
In remarks, both parents and beneficiaries thanked Destined Kids Assistance Program and Kids Educational Engagement Project for their support but called on others to help them through the organization.
They made particular called on government and humanitarians or individuals not to forget about people with disabilities.
But they want them to always care for and support their initiatives for the betterment of their wellbeing and warfare.
