Dorbor Jallah Tells Senate LRA Can Raise Over US$1 Billion Revenue Yearly, If It Gets Financial Autonomy

Calls For Consistency In Budgetary Allotment

LRA Commissioner General J. Dorbor Jallah is seeking consistency in budgetary allotment to the entity so as to enhance revenue collection adequately.

Addressing the Plenary of the Liberian Senate on the challenges and plans of action on Tuesday May 21, 2024, the Commissioner General expressed the need of digitalization and the greater use of technology in transforming revenue collection for transparency as well as to increase Liberia’s resource envelope.

The LRA Boss further indicated that the implementation of a data house solutions that will provide a 360 views of taxpayers liability, utilizing technology that will ensure a clear view of the entire value chain of all different tax kind in the country as well as the connectivity of all LRA offices across the country to enable tax and custom offices, will provide real time information as soon as possible.

According to a press release from the Senate Press and Public Affairs Department, the LRA Boss told Plenary that his institution is prepared to ensure adequacy in revenue collection by encouraging a maximum voluntary tax performance and a fair and transparent tax environment.

Mr. Jallah also assured the Plenary of the Liberian Senate that if the LRA receives the support needed, the institution will raise above one Billion United States Dollars (US$1bn).

He at the same time appealed to the Plenary of the Liberian Senate for their support in order to facilitate programs and plans of the entity, which when implemented, will expand the revenue envelope to support other entities of government.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner General of LRA is appealing to the Liberian Senate to give Financial Autonomy to his institutions, in order to maintain sound financial balance and maintain its full potential to adequately boost revenue collection across the country.
