Earth Tremors In North India Scare Liberians & Other African Students In India

DEHRADUN, India- Fear has gripped many Liberian and other African students in Dehradun due to the occurrence of earthremors in some parts of north India.

On Tuesday, March 21, 2023, around 10:00pm, tough tremors were felt in parts of north India, including Delhi-NCR region.

The earthquake shocks lasted for several seconds in the northern Indian states including Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Chandigarh and Punjab.

In Uttar Pradesh, men, women and children also rushed out of their houses in Vasundhara, Ghaziabad as strong earthquake tremors were felt in several parts of north India.

People were seen walking around from one point to another in panic.

There was no loss of lives and many people have returned inside their houses.

In Dehradun City, many Liberians, other African students and local Indian students also rushed out of their various hostels in Clement Town when the tremors occurred.

According to them, they heard a heavy sound while in their rooms, followed by the shaking of their hostel buildings for seconds.

International students here are now going to bed very worried because of the disturbing earthquake news while others have vowed not to sleep tonight.

According to reports, the earthquake measuring 6.6 magnitude hit countries including Turkmenistan, India, Kazakhstan, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, China, Afghanistan, and Kyrgyzstan. The epicenter is believed to be 90 km from Kalafgan in Afghanistan.

On February 21, 2023, the National Geophysical Research Institute (NGRI) in India said that the Himalayan region of the country could be rocked by a massive earthquake soon, which could have a major impact on Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand.

Meanwhile, Kishtwar Police has issued a helpline number for information on any damage in Earthquake. The police Control Room (Kishtwar) can be reached at +91 99061 54100.
