Monrovia- Disbursement of the budget support from the European Union (EU) was expected as early as Friday, December 20, 2019, LINA has reported.

In a related development, the African Development Bank is also expected to disburse US$4 million following documentation of the progress made to date on upgrading Liberia’s Anti-Money Laundering framework and law.

The Government of France is also preparing to release its budget support to the Government of Liberia following representation by President George M. Weah during his recent visit to Paris, France.

These flows will enhance the Government’s ability to stabilize civil servants’ salary disbursements by end of February 2020 and address other fiscal needs when a large budget support from the World Bank is expected to be disbursed.

Finance Minister Samuel Tweah thanked the EU for this “show of confidence in our reform drive” on behalf of President Weah, the government and people of Liberia.

He reiterated the CDC government’s commitment to improving the lives of the Liberian people through good governance measures.
