Liberia’s First Lady Clair Marie Weah says her main focus is to help drug affected youths, orphans, uneducated girls and the elderly.

She promised to continue catering for the disadvantaged and helpless in Liberian society by providing them home, as well as training and educational facilities.

The Liberian First Lady told state radio ELBC recently that those categories of people in the country need to be shown love and concern.

“Tell them that you don’t have to live in the street and that someone loves you,” Amb. Weah who has in recent time been engaged in humanitarian works, said.

She recently provided hot meals for dozens of children in and around Monrovia and said she was stunned to realize in recent time that orphanages were in bad condition and that kids were not having up to three meals a day.

The First Lady said her plan is to take drug addicts and girls off the streets, rehabilitate them, restore their pride and dignity and help them reintegrate into society.

“Of course this is a long range plan that I cannot implement alone, and here’s where the government comes in,” Amb. Weah admitted.

She said she has been using her personal resources to accomplish most of what she has been doing in recent times, stressing, “I’m for the grassroots”.

According to her, some people recently criticized her on social media after she provided meals for children telling her that “food is not everything”.

But Madam Weah said she responded telling them that food was everything especially for those who do not have because it is making them feel like they are loved.
