German Citizen’s Murder Case Kicks-off Tuesday In Margibi County

The 13th Judicial Circuit in Kakata, Margibi County east of Monrovia is expected to commence hearing into the recent murder of a German national, Jueden Schedeman in Grand Bassa County, nearly 90 miles from Monrovia.

Mr. Schedeman was shot dead on January 22, 2020 by some armed robbers, who made away both cash and materials in the port City of Grand Bassa County and he trial of his suspected murderers is slated to begin on Tuesday, June 2, 2020..

Jueden Schedewas was the Chief Executive Officer and General Manager of the International Consultant Capeter (ICC), who was sho dead in Big Joe town at his logging company in  Grand County at 1:30 am .

After allegedly shooting the German national dead, the robbers fled from the scene but two were arrested by police authorities in separate locations.

Those arrested, investigated, charged and forwarded to court are Emmanuel Kollie and Joseph Cole popularly known as Joe Cole while the rest are yet to be arrested.

Both Emmanuel Kollie and Joseph Cole were charged with murder, armed robbery, Criminal conspiracy and Criminal facilitation among others.

The Defendants were indicted by the Grand jury of Grand Bassa in March of this year, but later requested for change of venue due to public judgement against them.

The change of venue motion was argued between state lawyers and Defense lawyer. But the request was granted by the Second Judicial Circuit Court Judge, Joe S. Barkon, who cited Liberian Penal Law– 29LLR, page 35, James Sarr vs. Republic of Liberia.

Change of venue is the right of all parties who feel that they will not have free, fair and impartial at a particular location.

Meanwhile, it is not yet clear as to whether the Defendants will be allow bench trial, because there is no jury trial due to ongoing Coronavirus pandemic or COVID-19.
