Girlfriend Alleged Killer Sent To Court In Monrovia

A 34-year-old man and a resident of Mount Barclay Community near the Liberian capital, Monrovia, Isaac Mulbah has been charged and forwarded to the Monrovia City Court for allegedly murdering and abusing the corpse of his fiancee.

The defendant was arrested, investigated and subsequently charged with the crimes which violates chapter 14 Section 14.1 and chapter 18, section 18.12 respectively of the revised penal code law of the Republic of Liberia.

During police investigation, it was established that Grace Kollie (victim) and defendant Mulbah were living together at his Mount Barclay residence, where he normally beat on her for talking to other men

“Whenever he sees her even joking with some of the community boys, he will get angry with her and at times beat on her because of jealousy,” police investigation revealed.

According to the police charged sheet, on October 19, 2021, prior to the murder, defendant Mulbah had returned home and met the victim in conversation with two men who came to rest by their house, after cleaning a parcel of land intended for a Cement Depot. When he saw the victim and the two men, he hurriedly went in and didn’t speak. Out of curiosity, victim Kollie followed but was immediately thrown out and told to continue conversing with the two men.

“The victim felt embarrassed by his action and went into the house to him; but he pushed her out of the house and telling her to go and continue. In the process, some of their neighbors came and intervene, which he accepted being wrong and apologize to her” charged sheet uncovered.

Harboring hard feelings in his heart for his fiancee for two days, defendant Mulbah on October 21, 202 decided  to put few wearing in a bag for reason, which police said was criminal, because he waited until his children had all gone to bed before he began venting his anger toward the victim.

Investigation also revealed that on the fateful night of the murder, the defendant attacked Kollie; beat on her severely and then wrapped a thick plastic around her head to the extent that she excreted on herself, and in that moment, she started bleeding from a laceration she earlier sustained from an assault.

It furthered: “Defendant Isaac Mulbah attacked her, severely beat her and then suffocated her by wrapping a thick plastic around her head.”

The charge sheet furthered that when the defendant noticed that the victim was unresponsive, he wrapped her body in the bedsheet and and early in the morning hours, took the lifeless body from the house and dumped it in the Swamp.  He later covered it with grass before fleeing to Nimba County were he has been in hiding for almost a year.

It was however established that the victim had accused the defendant of extra loving affairs on October 21, 2022 and for said reason, he left his Peter Town community in Mount Barclay, and had gone to spend some time with a lady identified as Ma-Antoinette.

It furthered that after he had observed that he girlfriend was still upset, he started taking his clothes to leave for pipeline after an argument ensued, which later intensified during the early morning hours of October 22, 2021.

The corpse of Grace Kollie discovered by community after her body started decaying and producing odor. Accordingly, they had searched for both parties for some time both couldn’t see them, the police report said.

Defendant Isaac Mulbah was arrested on October 23, 2022, a year after he committed the murder.

He was arrested for purposely, knowingly and intentionally causing the death of his fiancee under strange circumstances and disposing of her body in the Swamp.

The defendant has however, been sent to the Monrovia Central Prison and his awaiting trial.
