A female advocacy organization, the Girls Alliance for Future Leadership, on Monday organized an indoor program in observance of the 14th anniversary of the death of 13-year-old girl, Angel Togba.

14 years ago, little Anegl Togba, then a student of the Christ The King Catholic School in Monrovia, was found dead dangling from the ceiling in the home of her adopted parents, Mr. Hens Williams and Mardea Paykue in the Sinkor suburb of Monrovia.

However, after many years of legal battle, the lower court found Hens Williams and Mardea Paykue guilty of murder. But the verdict of the court was later overturned and declared the pair were declared not guilty by the Supreme Court of Liberia.

Speaking at the observance of Angel Togba Day in Monrovia, the Advocacy Officer of the Girls Alliance for Future Leadership, Kadiatu Bah, delivered a message on behalf of the late Angel that she was allegedly raped and killed. She never committed suicide, she claimed.

According to Miss Bah, young girls in Liberia are currently living in fear because of the high rate of killings and mysterious deaths in several parts in the country.

The Girls Alliance for Future Leadership expressed concerns about the level of insecurity in the country as evident by the discovery of dead bodies in several locations throughout the country.

The challenged the justice system especially the Supreme Court of Liberia to bring justice all perpetrators.

She called on President George Weah to make the fighting against violence against female as the number one crime in the country because of the increase of abuse against females in Liberia.

They called on the judiciary to ensure justice for women and girls and stop all forms of abuses against women and girls by bringing tough sentences against perpetrators

The program, which was held at the campus of the Cathedral Catholic School was graced by female students from several high school in Monrovia and its environs.
