The Welleh Toe Harris Memorial Foundation has brought smiles on the faces of hundred Children and Youth in Grand Kru County, most especially those who are citizens and residents of Grand Cess in the South-eastern County.
The Foundation made dreams fulfilled at the weekend when it donated assorted Educational, Sports and Sanitary materials to the Grandcess Youth Association in Monrovia for onward transportation to Grandcess in Grand Kru County.
Making the Presentation on behalf of the Welleh Toe Harris Memorial Foundation, Mr. Albert Nyenplayene Nah outlined how Madam Welleh Toe Harris as Classroom Teacher was keen on the development of the youths of Grand Kru County most of all, Grandcess.
Mr. Nah said these were lessons she taught her Children and passed them on to the Grand children who have developed the heart for where they come from.
He disclosed that the foremost priority of the foundation is to develop the minds of the youth of Grandcess and Grand Kru. According to him, in whatever that is to be achieved in any giving society, the youth must play a pivotal role.
The Foundation provided academic materials such as Copybooks, Pen, Sharpeners, Chalks among others for school-going children in Grandcess. The donation also included; Shovels, Wheel Barrows, Cutlasses, Paints and Brushes, Set Jerseys and football for the young people to use for their development activities and played together at the same time.
Mr. Nah cautioned the young people and the beneficiaries to use the materials for the intended purpose.
Receiving the items on behalf of the Grandcess Youth Association, the Association’s President Nyenpa Klah lauded the Welleh Toe Harris Memorial Foundation for thinking about the youth Grandcess in Grand Kru County.
Mr. Klah promised the unwavering commitment of the Young people of Grandcess in helping to development the area. He said the material giving will only help to boost the work of the Grandcess Youth Association and put smile on the faces of the School going Youth and Children of Grandcess.
He also used the occasion to call on prominent songs and daughters of the Grandcess help in the rebirth of the community, a place he said is beautifully position in Liberia.
Also making remarks, the elder Daughter of Mother Welleh Toe Harris expressed how deeply accomplished she felt with the establishment of the Welleh Toe Harris Memorial Foundation to push the dream of her mother who was a dedicated public servant.
She wants every citizen of Grandcess especially those in diaspora to join hands in making the Community an amazing one that everyone in the world will always think about coming to see when Liberia is mentioned, due to its beautiful coastline.
The late Morrie Welleh Toe Harris, was a great Leader and educator who was commonly known, as “Teacher Morrie or Teacher Welleh.” She was a principal for the J. T. Nimely Elementary School in Grandcess.
She was a woman of substance who showed great compassion, motivation, and tremendous support to her students, parents, and fellow teachers.
Mrs. Harris was also known to have embalmed the dead and administered medical injections to family and member of the Grandcess community who were ill. She acquired her medical skills from her husband who was a surgical doctor.
