The Deputy Minister at the Ministry of Information, Cultural Affairs and Tourism, Eugene L. Fahngon has said that Roots FM owned by vocal Talk show host Henry Costa is operating illegally,” but Mr. Costa has put up a challenge for the CDC government to prove this in court.
Liberia’s Deputy Information Minister, Fahngon expressed that since December 31, 2018, to the best of their knowledge, Roots FM does not have permit, license or any document relating to their operations, but that his frequency was transferred from Voice FM to Roots FM.
According to Minister Fahngon, the Ministry of Information has rules and guideline on how to regulate media institutions adding that number ten of MICAT rules and guidelines state that all permits should be renewed every year and all permits can be withdrew base on ethical beech.
Besides the documents issue, Minister Fahngon said there has been lot of complaints from some citizens that radio talk show host is always giving inciting, abusive messages which some citizens frowned at.
Meanwhile, in an interview with Mr. Henry Costa at the Temple of Justice, said if the government of Liberia feels that he is operating illegally, let the government take him to court.
Mr. Costa also said just how his radio station’s operation days are numbered, it is the same way that the government of Liberia’s days are numbered too, adding that he grateful to God and the citizens of Liberia for electing their candidates, both Dillon and Urey.
Minister, Deputy Information Minister Fahngon said President Weah has committed himself not to shut down any media house, but every media institution should walk with the rules and guideline of the Ministry and the days of Mr. Costa operation are numbers.
