He Claims Gov’t Paid US$200K To Bear False Witness During The Trial

TEMPLE OF JUSTICE, Monrovia, Liberia– One of the prime suspects connected to the alleged arson attack on the Capitol building, John Nyanti, who was arrested recently, has accused the Unity Party government of bribing him to lie on former Speaker Cllr. Fonati Koffa linking him to December 2024 blaze.
His was arrested based on an interpol arrest warrant..According to the police sheet, defendant Nyanti was part of a meeting held at a used car place opposite Conet gas station in Jallah town who received US100 from Representative Dixon Seboe of District #16 and exchanged it with Liberian dollars and distributed it on those alleged of sitting the seat of the Legislature ablaze.
However, on his way to Criminal Court A where the case was transferred on June 13,2025, after the preliminary examination hearing, disclosed that the Boakai led government has promised to give him US 200k to lie on former speaker Jonathan Fonati Koffa.

“You said, you get evidence? But you want give me 200k to lie against Fonati Koffa” defendant Nyanti while on handcuffs taken to Criminal Court A narrated.
According to him, he been in Liberia since June 6,2025, where government has been tormenting to lie on ex-speaker Koffa.
Criminal Court A Judge Roosevelt Z. Willie sent to jail defendant John Nyanti, accused of burning the Capitol building on December 18,2024 to join his fellow colleagues in detention.
The defendant Dixon Seboe of District #16 is accused of financing Nyanti escape from the country in connection to the Capitol building arson attack.
According to the police charge sheet, the alleged arson attack on the Capitol building in December of 2024, led to the escape defendants Nyanti and Amos Kofa have been on the run through the alleged assistance of Representative Dixon Seboe.
Defendant Nyanti and others who have been on the run were charged in absentia following a general interpol arrest warrant.
The defendant Nyanti is being Charged under the Revised Penal Code of Liberia:Arson (Chapter 15, Section 15.1),Criminal Mischief (Chapter 15, Section 15.5),Recklessly Endangering Another Person (Chapter 14, Section 14.23),Criminal Attempt to Commit Murder (Chapter 10, Section 10.1),Criminal Facilitation (Chapter 10, Section 10.2),Criminal Solicitation (Chapter 10, Section 10.3),Criminal Conspiracy (Chapter 10, Section 10.4)
The police concluded that the destruction of the Capitol Building’s Joint Chambers represents a direct assault on democracy and governance. The suspects are currently held at Monrovia Central Prison, awaiting trial.
